The Public Works Department provides high quality, professional, and excellent services in Engineering; Facility, Street, Traffic, Water Distribution, Grounds, and Fleet Maintenance; potable Water Treatment; and Recycling & Solid Waste; that enhances the safety and quality of life for all Vallejo residents and customers.

The Public Works Department has three Divisions (Engineering, Maintenance, Water) and the Recycling & Solid Waste section that work together and independently to provide a variety of maintenance, operations, and engineering services to our residents.

Public Works Departments
The Engineering Division is responsible for contracting and overseeing capital projects, the implementation of traffic control systems, Landscape Maintenance Districts (LMDs), reviewing current development, and managing the city's garbage waste and recycling contract.

The largest and most diverse Division, the Maintenance Division is responsible for streets and traffic signal maintenance, water distribution maintenance; including main breaks, city building and vehicle maintenance, and upkeep of public grounds.

The Water Division is responsible for the potable water gathered, sanitized, and distributed throughout the City of Vallejo and its unincorporated areas. The Water Division also provides outreach and education services and classes to students and adults.
