District Elections

Vallejo City Council voted to transition from “at-large elections” of our councilmembers to “by-district” elections on July 9, 2019.

“At-large” systems have been subject to legal challenges under the California Voting Rights Act.  In Vallejo, our at-large system has been challenged as discriminatory, thus, the City Council voted to transition to “by-district” elections on July 9, 2019.  Map 616 was selected after careful consideration. Districts 1, 3, and 6 will hold elections in 2020. Districts 2, 4, and 5 will hold elections in 2022.

Vallejo residents participated in the district elections process by submitting maps, attending workshops, and speaking at public hearings. Visit the "Draft Maps" page below to view all the district maps that were submitted to council for consideration.
